Principal Engineer, Technical Project Management (Automotive Connectivity)

Location: Ariake, Tokyo, Japan; onsite engineering role

What you will do

• Own the integrated technical delivery plan, engineering schedule, critical path, milestones, dependencies, and recovery plans.
• Coordinate software, hardware, mechanical, systems, cybersecurity, integration, verification, quality, and supplier teams.
• Lead technical governance routines, dependency reviews, readiness reviews, and cross-functional issue-resolution forums.
• Consolidate technical risks, define mitigation strategies, and escalate unresolved blockers with recovery recommendations.
• Assess architecture maturity, integration readiness, verification progress, cybersecurity status, supplier dependencies, and release readiness.
• Support executive and program governance reviews through clear technical status reporting, forecasts, and trade-off recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Several years of experience in automotive product development, embedded systems, or connectivity solutions.
• Proven experience leading complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of software, hardware, systems engineering, and integration processes.
• Experience managing technical dependencies across multiple organizations and suppliers.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, influencing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with automotive connectivity, telematics control units, IoT, or connected vehicle technologies.
• Experience in ASPICE-based development environments.
• Knowledge of functional safety, cybersecurity, verification, and validation processes.
• Previous technical leadership as a System Lead, Project Lead, Engineering Manager, Software Project Lead, Hardware Project Lead, or System Architect.
• International and cross-cultural project experience.
