Head of Supply Chain (Robotics)

Location: On-site in Watertown, MA, United States; international travel approximately 25% of the time.

Salary: $220,000–$280,000 base per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build and lead the supply chain function, including the team, supplier base, planning engine, and operating tools.
• Set sourcing strategies for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components; qualify second sources in Asia and onshore where appropriate.
• Select and manage contract manufacturers, negotiate contracts, pricing, and capacity, and drive quarterly BOM cost reductions.
• Own purchasing, MRP, long-lead buys, safety stock, clear-to-build planning, and supply chain inputs to the ECO process.
• Manage inbound freight from Asia, outbound shipping to customers in the US and Canada, customs, tariffs, landed cost, hazmat compliance, and 3PL partners.
• Build real-time systems for line-down prevention, supplier risk, capacity, shortages, should-cost analysis, landed cost, and realized savings.

Requirements

• Experience taking a hardware supply chain from startup to volume production, ideally in robotics or complex electromechanical systems.
• Knowledge of electromechanical commodities, including fabricated and cast parts, electronics, motion, and power components.
• Experience developing suppliers in Asia in person and assessing their ability to scale.
• Experience managing contract manufacturers and reducing costs through negotiation and design changes.
• Experience leading NPI sourcing from early design through production ramp.
• Experience building and leading teams while remaining hands-on; able to negotiate firmly while maintaining supplier relationships.
• Technical ability to challenge engineers on design-for-supply.
• Ability to travel internationally approximately 25% of the time.
• This role requires on-site work in Watertown, MA.

• Experience standing up ERP, MRP, or supply chain tooling from nothing and knowing when not to build additional systems.
• Experience moving work to contract manufacturers and making the transition sustainable.
• Experience working across US, Canada, and Asia operations.
