Electrical Engineer (Marine/Defence)

Location: Westhill, Aberdeen, United Kingdom. Permanent onsite position with site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as required.

What you will do

• Provide electrical engineering design input for new products and technical support for the existing JFD product range.
• Assess technical queries and develop engineering solutions for product upgrades and field changes.
• Liaise with sales, procurement, production, and other internal departments to deliver suitable technical solutions.
• Source components and materials, create part numbers and bills of materials, and prepare specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certifications, and reports.
• Check electrical drawings and engineering documentation for compliance with company standards, external standards, regulations, and class society rules.
• Deliver solutions on time and on budget, including technical checking of drawings and documentation.

Requirements

• Proven electrical and electronics design skills and competence in generating design calculations.
• Competence using engineering design software tools and CAD packages.
• Knowledge of design standards and experience working with marine and defence standards and class society rules, mainly LR and DNV.
• Experience with a Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storing engineering packages.
• Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisation, attention to detail, methodical documentation practices, ownership, accountability, and the ability to meet tight deadlines and changing client requirements.

• Previous product design experience, particularly with DC systems.
