Functional Safety Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Göteborg, Sweden

What you will do

• Develop and apply current and future Functional Safety requirements under ISO 26262 for ePowertrain systems, power electronics, batteries, chassis, and controls.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and maintain the item definition, hazard analysis, and risk assessment.
• Develop and review Functional Safety Concepts and Technical Safety Concepts.
• Define and analyse Functional Safety and Technical Safety requirements.
• Conduct FTA, FMEA, and HAZOP safety analyses.
• Lead technical Functional Safety discussions with suppliers and customers, and support audits, assessments, the safety plan, and the safety case.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical, mechatronic, vehicle engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• 4–6 years of industrial experience in Functional Safety.
• Experience applying ISO 26262 across the entire safety lifecycle, including ASIL C and ASIL D applications.
• Hands-on experience with FTA, HARA, and safety concepts.
• Strong systems-thinking skills and knowledge of powertrain systems, propulsion systems, and hybrid and electric vehicles.
• Ability to interpret and assess complex vehicle systems and architectures for safety.
• Ability to plan and manage time, prioritise multiple tasks, communicate, and work with others.
• Fluent English is mandatory.

Nice to have

• Swedish language skills.
• Category B driving licence.
