Software Engineer - Mainframe/COBOL (COBOL)

Location: Onsite now or in the near future, with full office days three or more days per week; must be within a reasonable driving distance of Birmingham, AL, Charlotte, NC, or Atlanta, GA. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Salary: $127,767.75–$168,210.00 USD annually, plus potential participation in the Long Term Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Develop, enhance, maintain, and deploy COBOL-based mainframe applications using DB2.
• Create and support JCL jobs for reliable batch processing and system performance.
• Analyze, design, and support ACH payment processing solutions using NACHA file specifications.
• Monitor, test, optimize, and troubleshoot applications, systems, and production issues.
• Implement system enhancements, resolve business systems issues, and improve system effectiveness and efficiency.
• Support compliance, cybersecurity, disciplined change management, documentation, and the training of junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Seven years of experience.
• Ability to collaborate with programmers, developers, and technology professionals while managing multiple projects.
• Experience with system analysis, technology solution development, software testing, code optimization, debugging, and performance analysis.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and execution skills.
• Understanding of software structures, hardware, computing systems, and system integration.
• Ability to interpret and comply with applicable rules, regulations, industry guidance, risk management programs, and cybersecurity practices.
• Applicants must currently be authorized to work full-time in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

• Previous experience in payments, banking, or financial services environments.
