Senior Software Engineer (Mainframe)

Salary: $129,314.00–$180,000.00 per year, plus annual or quarterly performance incentives.

What you will do

• Lead medium to large engineering projects, including discovery, high-level design, technical solutioning, delivery planning, and cross-functional approvals.
• Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and review scalable Mainframe batch applications, DB2 stored procedures, CICS webservices, and related code.
• Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of business and production issues, including documentation and preventive actions.
• Optimize application and database performance, reduce MIPS consumption, and improve Mainframe operating costs.
• Integrate with third-party vendors through secure SFTP, AS2, and EDI file transmission protocols, including HIPAA-compliant and medical-standard exchanges.
• Provide technical guidance, stakeholder support, project status communication, and leadership to project and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of software engineering or related experience; or a master’s degree or equivalent plus 2 years of such experience.
• Experience with relational databases including BigQuery, DB2, and Teradata.
• Experience developing and maintaining SOAP CICS webservices, implementing webservices with IBM DataPower, and supporting e-commerce applications.
• Experience architecting and implementing scalable, high-performance Mainframe batch applications using JCL, COBOL, and Easytrieve for millions of records.
• Experience integrating third-party vendors through SFTP, AS2, and EDI secure transmission protocols for HIPAA-compliant and medical-standard file exchange.
• Experience with Mobius and Infopac reporting, analytics, and dashboards; Mainframe utilities including FileAid, Librarian, SPUFI, SYNCSORT, DFSORT, Abendaid, and Expeditor.
• Experience reducing MIPS consumption using SORT, COBOL, and JCL; tuning DB2 queries with DB2 Explain and DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer; and tuning JCL, COBOL programs, and SQL queries.
• Experience developing DB2 stored procedures and CICS webservices for Angular front-end and POS applications; using DB2 Unload and Load utilities for application testing.
• Experience using CA7 and Control-M scheduling tools to orchestrate Mainframe workflows, quality assurance, and recovery activities. The employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
