Software Security Engineer

Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States; hybrid schedule with customer-site support 1–2 days per week on average and possible CONUS-only travel.

Salary: $165,033–$240,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead the conception, development, and implementation of advanced software capabilities for computer-based systems.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, architecture, and governance teams to architect project solutions.
• Design, model, and prototype current and future data states using AWS-compatible solutions.
• Analyze system needs and requirements and develop technical, structural, and organizational specifications.
• Create standards and models to monitor and improve capacity and performance while troubleshooting under multiple deadlines.
• Interface with customers as the primary technical contact and support implementations.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
• At least 15 years of Systems/Software Engineering experience with a technical bachelor’s degree; 13 years of relevant experience with a related master’s degree; or 19 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Architect-level AWS Cloud experience focused on data and experience with cloud technologies including AWS and Azure.
• Ability to document and present solutions to internal and external customers and support implementation.
• Experience modeling and coding database solutions, including distributed databases, NoSQL databases, and full-text search engines such as Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or Solr.
• Experience with streaming or batch analytics, such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, Storm, MapReduce, or Hadoop.
• Experience designing enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, microservices architecture, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience with modern Java frameworks and libraries such as Spring and Guava, Linux, and configuration management tools such as Git, Nexus, or Maven.
• Proficiency in system design, meticulous documentation, the Risk Management Framework process, and the agile software lifecycle.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule with customer-site support 1–2 days per week on average, possible CONUS-only travel, and flexibility for schedule changes.

Nice to have

• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certifications, if required by the customer.
• Previous Big Data Platform experience.
• Scripting experience.
