Youth Services Specialist (Refugee Education)

Location: Louisville, KY, USA; hybrid work with office, remote, and local field time

What you will do

• Support ORR-eligible refugee students ages 6–18 and their families with school enrollment, interpretation support, orientations, and education-system navigation.
• Coordinate with Jefferson County Public Schools, the Office of Multilingual Learners, teachers, community partners, and IRC staff to address enrollment and academic concerns.
• Deliver twice-weekly after-school tutoring in reading, writing, and other academic subjects with interns or volunteers.
• Conduct student check-ins, track grades, homework, and attendance, and refer families to IRC programs or community resources.
• Plan and lead the summer academic program, including academic reinforcement, enrichment, field trips, and transportation.
• Maintain ClientTrack records, support intern and youth-program staff supervision, and assist with case closures and transition planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with refugee, immigrant, or multicultural youth and families, preferably in a school, resettlement, or case management setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Self-starter with strong problem-solving, prioritization, time-management, attention-to-detail, and accuracy skills.
• Fluent English, spoken and written, is required; proficiency in languages spoken by the client group is desired.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, internet tools, and digital data-entry and research tools.
• Familiarity with the U.S. education system is preferred; ClientTrack or another client database experience is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal insured vehicle are required, including the ability to drive clients for enrollment, summer programs, and after-school activities.
• First Aid and CPR certification is preferred, or must be obtained before the program starts.
• Applicants must already have work authorization in the United States location where the position is advertised.
