Strategic Communications Director (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States; Onsite

Salary: $210,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Own strategic communications, including reporter relationships, inbound press, briefings, embargoes, announcement strategy, and issues response.
• Set and maintain hirify.global's voice across earned and executive communications.
• Prepare executive speeches, talking points, remarks, Q&A materials, and public communications, primarily supporting the CEO and other executives.
• Partner with HR on internal messages aligning technicians and engineers across the factory network.
• Build and manage the Strategic Communications team, including hiring and developing direct reports.
• Select and manage agencies, PR firms, speechwriters, and consultants, including briefs, budgets, and performance accountability.

Requirements

• 15+ years of communications experience in tech, defense, aerospace, or a related field, with fluency in communicating with the press, government, and internal audiences.
• Demonstrated experience managing a team, including hiring and developing direct reports.
• Experience managing external consultants, agencies, and freelance relationships with clear briefs, budgets, and accountability for results.
• Ability to translate the mission of reindustrializing the United States into compelling stories for reporters, policymakers, and the public.
• Executive presence and judgment, including the ability to advise a CEO during high-stakes moments.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to maintain a consistent company voice across many communications.
• Proactive, collaborative approach and ability to build partnerships across external affairs and internal communications.
• Willingness to travel regularly and often on short notice for factory visits, executive appearances, and press events across hirify.global's sites.
• A sense of levity while maintaining high standards.
• ITAR eligibility is required: U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
