Controller, Spacecraft Operations

Company

SES operates a multi-orbit fleet of communication satellites and related spacecraft operations systems.

What you will do

• Monitor and control GEO and/or MEO satellites to support asset safety, customer performance, and spacecraft lifetime.
• Monitor telemetry, transmit commands, perform ranging operations, and maintain satellite and ground-system availability.
• Troubleshoot ground and spacecraft subsystem anomalies and notify engineers or on-call personnel of uncovered events.
• Maintain operational schedules, deconflict requests, and maximize transponder availability through effective communication.
• Draft and review operational procedures, maintain technical proficiency, and follow operational constraints and safety requirements.
• Train and coach Spacecraft Controllers and obtain and maintain ground-system and satellite-subsystem accreditations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and/or 3–6 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work 24/7 rotating shifts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, punctual, able to multitask and prioritize, and capable of working without direct supervision.
• Team-player mindset, global cultural awareness and sensitivity, strong problem-solving ability, and good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong operational awareness, continuous-learning mindset, and commitment to procedural adherence and accurate, timely anomaly response.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite and/or ground systems.
• Experience with Python, C#, HTML/CSS/JS, or other programming languages.
• Understanding of computer, baseband, and RF equipment associated with a TT&C facility.
