Engineer, Payload (Satellite Communications)

What you will do

• Operate GEO and MEO payloads, monitor spacecraft health, and provide 24/7 on-call support for anomalies, off-limit conditions, recovery, and service interruptions.
• Maintain customer performance against SLA terms while maximizing satellite availability and longevity.
• Develop integrated payload applications and tools for performance monitoring, operational automation, resource optimization, and constellation performance.
• Lead payload readiness for new satellite operations, in-orbit testing, transition into service, and MEO constellation phasing.
• Support the design, procurement, integration, ground testing, and in-orbit testing of GEO and MEO satellites, including software-defined flexible satellites, digital processing, and beamforming.
• Develop operational solutions for customer productization, fleet management, spacecraft anomalies, and contingency operations.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related spacecraft engineering discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred, with telecommunications specialization preferred.
• Professional experience in satellite or telecommunications engineering, RF payload engineering, or relevant education.
• Thorough knowledge of end-to-end satellite communication systems, communications link budgets, RF payload subsystems, RF measurement equipment, signal acquisition, processing, and analysis.
• Knowledge of digitally processed RF payloads, satellite networks, radio-frequency telecommunications, and phased-array operation; experience with digital payload technology is preferred.
• Previous exposure to satellite or LEO/MEO constellation operations is a plus.
• Intermediate or advanced analytical programming skills in Python, Visual Basic, and/or MATLAB; familiarity with data retrieval, data analytics, data warehousing, and data acquisition.
• Comfort working in Windows and/or Linux environments, with familiarity with computer networking, distributed systems, communications protocols, real-time systems, IoT, and cloud computing.
• Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence; web development experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, initiative, and leadership skills, with willingness to work in an international environment.
• Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support, respond to contingencies, and work effectively under high-stress conditions.
