Research Scientist I, Attribute Sciences Computational Biology, AI & Scientific Informatics

Location: United States - California - Santa Monica; onsite required

Salary: $133,195.00–$172,370.00 annually, plus potential discretionary bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and deploy Copilot, Copilot Studio, and similar AI agents for scientific workflows.
• Develop RAG-based knowledge assistants that retrieve, summarize, and cite information from enterprise sources.
• Analyze NGS, omics, vector characterization, and cell therapy process datasets, and build automated processing and visualization pipelines.
• Automate laboratory, documentation, knowledge-management, and scientific workflows using electronic lab notebook and data lake infrastructure.
• Build predictive and descriptive models, statistical tools, dashboards, and decision-support systems for process development and manufacturing.
• Partner with Process Development, Analytical Development, Manufacturing Sciences, Digital/IT, and Data Science teams; train stakeholders in AI tools and prompt engineering.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline; or a master's degree and 4+ years of experience; or a bachelor's degree and 6+ years; or an associate degree and 8+ years; or a high school degree and 10+ years.
• Software and programming skills sufficient to independently build and deploy AI and data science solutions.
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of AI experience, including LLMs, vector databases, agentic frameworks, prompt engineering, and evaluation frameworks.
• Advanced statistical knowledge and proficiency in R, Python, or SQL for analyzing large datasets.
• Knowledge of cell biology, cancer biology, or immunology.
• Experience with bioinformatics, NGS analysis, high-dimensional data analytics, machine learning, statistical modeling, experimental design, and data visualization.
• Critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving, collaboration, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivation, attention to detail, flexibility, and comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
