Company

hirify.global of MIT and Harvard is a biomedical research institute using genomics, computational science, and biological research to improve disease understanding, diagnostics, and therapeutics.

What you will do

  • Design and optimize machine learning and AI methods for digital pathology, including segmentation, classification, spatial analysis, and predictive modeling.
  • Build scalable preprocessing, quality control, and analysis pipelines for tissue microarray and whole-slide imaging datasets.
  • Develop validation strategies, benchmark classifiers, and assess workflow performance using external datasets.
  • Assess image quality and identify artifacts, staining variability, segmentation errors, and tissue integrity issues.
  • Translate biological and clinical questions into quantitative imaging metrics in collaboration with pathologists, biologists, translational researchers, and data scientists.
  • Maintain reproducible, SOP-compliant documentation, version-controlled code, and organized large-scale imaging datasets.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a related quantitative life sciences discipline.
  • Master’s degree candidates require at least 4 years of relevant industry or academic research experience.
  • Hands-on experience with QuPath, including cell detection, tissue microenvironment analysis, classifier development, and Groovy scripting.
  • Experience with tissue imaging assays such as H&E, chromogenic IHC, and multiplex immunofluorescence.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and/or Groovy; experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with HALO/HALO AI, Visiopharm, or similar digital pathology platforms.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Docker, or comparable containerized workflow tools.
  • Experience in translational oncology, immuno-oncology, or biomarker discovery.
  • Publications, presentations, or collaborative projects involving computational pathology, spatial biology, or quantitative imaging.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary research environment involving pathologists, scientists, and partner research groups.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending and health savings accounts.
  • Paid holidays, winter closure, paid time off, and parental and family care leave.
  • Employee assistance program and other employee benefits.
