Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Location: Rensselaer, NY, United States; onsite role with some travel and shift work when needed for training, meetings, and start-ups.

Salary: $91,700–$111,200 per year.

What you will do

• Implement and oversee site health and safety programs covering industrial hygiene, hazard communication, confined spaces, emergency response, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, ergonomics, PPE, laboratory hygiene, and related areas.
• Plan and deliver safety training for employees, contractors, and applicable business partners.
• Develop emergency response training and exercises and facilitate safety committees and incident investigations.
• Oversee potent compound handling safety, industrial hygiene, control banding, medical case management, modified work, medical surveillance, and respirator qualification programs.
• Coordinate SDS development, evaluate safety equipment, support environmental activities, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental laws.
• Manage security contractors, monitoring systems, incident responses, equipment repairs, and campus badge access.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience administering industrial health and safety programs.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening.

• Experience in a plant or facility with an extensive HAZCOM program.
