Staff Software Engineer

Location: Austin, TX, with hybrid / remote flexibility; the company is based in the US.

What you will do

• Lead feature-level implementation from scoping through delivery as a solo contributor or lead engineer for a 2–3-person pod.
• Work with stakeholders, Product Managers, Designers, and Principal Engineers to define requirements, plans, timelines, and technical solutions.
• Build and deliver product features for a primarily MERN-based platform using TypeScript and AWS.
• Own the full software development lifecycle, including migrations, rollout planning, observability, metrics, monitoring, and successful launches.
• Improve developer experience, team velocity, and delivery processes through automation and bottleneck reduction.
• Use AI developer tools within a human-led, documentation- and testing-focused engineering framework.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to define and refine technical requirements from business goals or behavioral requirements with stakeholders.
• Ability to turn technical requirements into iterative development plans with clear goals and timelines and lead a small team to on-time delivery.
• Operational excellence mindset and full SDLC ownership, including rollout, observability, metrics, monitoring, and post-development launch ownership.
• Track record of improving developer experience, increasing team velocity, removing development bottlenecks, and automating processes.
• Conversational fluency in AWS best practices, enterprise software design patterns, and event-driven architecture.
• Strong hands-on coding experience and practical application of AI developer tools in daily engineering work.

Nice to have

• Professional product-development experience with TypeScript, React, NodeJS, and MongoDB.
• 8+ years of experience building products in a startup environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
• Mobile development experience with Expo/React Native or fully native applications.
