Associate Counsel (AI/Fintech)

Location: Remote; full-time salaried employees must currently reside in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MA, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OR, TN, TX, UT, VA, or Ontario, Canada.

Salary: $105K–$150K plus possible equity.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with carriers, business partners, and vendors.
• Advise on product launches, insurance and consumer regulation, privacy, disclosures, consent, marketing, and operational processes.
• Investigate complex consumer complaints and regulatory inquiries and prepare proposed responses.
• Help design compliance policies, procedures, training, and controls; review audit findings and track corrective actions.
• Support licensing, entity maintenance, appointments, business expansion, and other corporate matters.
• Improve legal templates, guidance, and workflows while handling emerging legal questions and assigned matters through resolution.

Requirements

• JD or LLM with a record of high academic performance.
• Admission to practice in at least one U.S. state or in Ontario, in good standing.
• At least 2 years of relevant legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house, including substantive experience drafting, reviewing, or negotiating commercial agreements.
• Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills, including the ability to develop practical recommendations on unfamiliar issues.
• Experience managing multiple matters and working with business stakeholders to resolve them.
• Ability to manage deadlines, investigate independently, communicate clearly, identify blockers, and escalate material or higher-risk issues.
• Precise review of contracts and filings, including defined terms, dates, and cross-references.

Nice to have

• Experience with U.S. legal matters and regulated businesses, insurance, fintech, consumer protection, or privacy.
