Associate General Counsel, Product (Fintech)

Location: Remote - Americas; the role requires a qualifying law degree and a license to practice law in the United States or Canada.

What you will do

• Advise product and engineering teams launching novel financial products and services.
• Support global payment rails, embedded asset accounts, loans, cards, BNPL, crypto, and AI-powered lending and risk decisioning systems.
• Navigate regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions for products serving millions of merchants and processing hundreds of billions in payments.
• Translate complex regulations for business stakeholders and product visions into compliant product solutions.
• Create scalable legal frameworks that enable product velocity and own go-to-market launches through post-launch iteration.
• Build collaborative relationships across hirify.global’s Legal Teams and manage external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.

Requirements

• Qualifying law degree and license to practice law in the United States or Canada.
• 7+ years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Substantial experience advising Product teams on financial regulatory matters, privacy, consumer protection, and compliance.
• Exceptional analytical thinking, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
• Comfort with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment and collaboration across multiple areas.
• Proven ability to manage external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
• Ability to work as a strategic, product-focused legal partner embedded with product and engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with financial licenses such as US money transmitter licenses, BitLicenses, and EU/UK e-money institution licenses.
• Experience launching financial products internationally.
• Background in embedded finance, open banking, or crypto/blockchain.
