Commissioning Manager (Mechanical)

Location: Remote, Alberta, Canada; hybrid position with approximately 50–70% local and national travel to commissioning sites

Compensation: $110,000–$140,000

What you will do

• Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, owners, and internal project team members.
• Review commissioning design documents, including OPR, BOD, plans, and specifications, as well as submittals and shop drawings.
• Conduct construction site observation visits and prepare site observation reports.
• Develop project-specific installation verification checklists, functional performance tests, and integrated systems tests.
• Execute and witness onsite testing, including equipment start-up and functional testing.
• Manage the resolution of commissioning issues through project completion.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 5+ years of equivalent MEP construction, commissioning, and project management experience.
• OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification and NFPA 70E knowledge or certification are required.
• Ability to read construction drawings and valid driver’s license and car are required.
• Experience with equipment start-up and commissioning, including witnessing contractor activation and functional testing using functional test scripts.
• Understanding of commissioning processes, Building Automation Systems, Methods of Procedure, Sequences of Operation, trend analysis, and Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing.
• Knowledge of thermal environments in mission-critical facilities such as hospitals, data centers, and CL2/3 biocontainment laboratories.
• Proficiency in psychrometrics and heat transfer principles, plus knowledge of current building, mechanical, plumbing, fuel gas, fire, and energy codes.
• Experience with mechanical equipment including CRACs, CRAHs, AHUs, RTUs, VRFs, evaporators, heat pumps, boilers, chillers, adiabatic coolers, pumps, sensors, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and flowmeters.
• High-level engineering knowledge in the built environment, experience with hyperscale data center design and/or construction, strong written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
