Principal Software Engineer, Enterprise Integrations (AI)

Location: Hybrid; available location is Austin, Texas, United States. Offer-stage candidates may be asked to attend an in-person interview at a hirify.global office or hub.

What you will do

• Establish and communicate technical strategy across Enterprise Applications and translate long-term direction into incremental delivery plans.
• Lead complex cross-functional initiatives from problem definition through architecture, implementation, deployment, and operation.
• Influence technical decisions through design reviews, prototypes, standards, mentoring, and hands-on engineering.
• Build AI-enabled systems including agents, evaluation frameworks, MCP servers, and workflow automation.
• Evaluate when AI is appropriate versus deterministic software, and establish practices for quality, reliability, security, cost, latency, and human oversight.
• Improve engineering effectiveness through reusable platforms, operational tooling, automated diagnostics, development workflows, and stakeholder alignment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience as a guideline.
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language.
• Experience delivering AI-enabled systems beyond experimentation, including individual contribution, evaluation approach, production constraints, failure modes, and measurable outcomes.
• Experience with LLM APIs, AI guardrails or governance, and influencing technical culture and best practices without authority.
• Familiarity with integration patterns such as pub/sub, API-first, CDM, and batch processing, plus experience solving business problems through integration or automation.
• Experience building secure, operationally sound APIs and using observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, Kibana, or Splunk.
• Working familiarity with containerized or cloud-native environments and serverless platforms.
• Experience with GitLab or other CI/CD tooling.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for roughly one week every two months.

Nice to have

• Experience with business financial systems such as Oracle or NetSuite.
• Experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with the hirify.global Developer Platform, including Workers, Workflows, or D1.
• Experience with Go, Python, and TypeScript.
