Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Illinois, United States of America; hybrid/remote

Salary: $90,000–$134,000 annual base salary, plus annual performance bonus and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Implement, configure, maintain, and validate layered security controls across perimeter, network, host, application, identity, and data layers.
• Deploy and administer EDR/XDR platforms, maintain endpoint and image hardening baselines, and investigate endpoint alerts through root-cause analysis, forensic collection, containment, and eradication.
• Conduct threat hunts mapped to MITRE ATT&CK and ATLAS, analyze telemetry and threat intelligence, and develop and tune detection rules, correlation logic, and alerting use cases.
• Build SOAR workflows and playbooks for enrichment, triage, containment, and response; develop security tooling with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Support data classification, discovery, data security posture management, and data loss prevention across endpoint, network, email, cloud, and SaaS surfaces.
• Support vulnerability and exposure management through attack-surface analysis, control validation, risk prioritization, and remediation recommendations.

Requirements

• Familiarity with enterprise security concepts across network, endpoint, identity, cloud, and data security domains.
• Basic knowledge of common security benchmarks and frameworks, including MITRE and NIST.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or automation language—Python, Bash, or PowerShell—applied to containerized services, CLI commands, or security use cases.
• Experience investigating security alerts, incidents, or suspicious activity.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Security, equivalent experience, or security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, or ISC2 SSCP.
• Basic knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands-on enterprise security engineering experience in detection and response, red teaming, or ethical hacking.
• Experience with EDR, XDR, SIEM, CNAPP, CSPM, CWP, and related security technologies across OSI layers.
• Exposure to threat modeling, threat hunting, digital forensics, detection engineering, security automation, and rule writing.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled SecOps, including UEBA, ML-based alert prioritization, and AI-assisted threat hunting.
• Working knowledge of software development lifecycle practices, software engineering, or infrastructure as code.
• Experience supporting SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA compliance and audit requirements from a technical control perspective.
