Cybersecurity Engineer (AI Agent)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; hybrid work with at least 3 days in the office. Travel required 5–10% of the time.

Salary: $112,100–$173,400 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and deliver cybersecurity automation solutions using GenAI coding tools and agentic development patterns.
• Develop Python agents and sub-agents for alert triage, evidence collection, enrichment, investigation summarization, remediation recommendations, and analyst workflow automation.
• Release cybersecurity investigation agents with safe tool use, clear execution boundaries, auditability, and supervisor-agent workflows.
• Create GenAI-enabled MCP, A2A, tool-based REST API integrations, secure internal tools, dashboards, and cybersecurity automation services.
• Work with SQL, Elastic, Lucene-based search, cloud storage, Linux, Django, containers, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and quality assurance practices.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, engineering, operations, and product stakeholders to clarify requirements, deliver production-ready code, document outcomes, and support deployments.

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Product development and agent development experience.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity incident response concepts.
• Experience with agentic design patterns and methods, including generative AI models, function calling, and specialized prompting.
• Hands-on Python development experience for GenAI agentic solutions, cybersecurity automation, investigation workflows, API integrations, and production support; 4+ years of Python or similar development experience is preferred.
• Experience with software development practices, source control, CI/CD pipelines, project lifecycle activities, and tools development.
• Strong Linux and systems engineering knowledge.
• Experience with Python web frameworks and Django, plus web frontend technologies such as Angular, React, or JavaScript.
• Ability to work independently, communicate through documentation and Jira updates, collaborate effectively, and balance strategic thinking with detailed execution.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree with relevant experience, or additional relevant work experience beyond the basic qualification.
• Experience with LangChain, LangSmith, CrewAI, CamelAI, and other GenAI agent and tool-based solutions.
• Experience with SOAR, SIEM, WAF, firewall, endpoint, cloud security, or threat-intelligence platforms.
• Financial services and card payments experience.
• Anthropic Claude, OpenAI Codex, OSCP, or similar AI engineering and cybersecurity certifications.
• Experience with agentic workflows, tool calling, supervisor agents, sub-agents, planning agents, validation agents, and context management.
