News Producer

What you will do

• Produce newscasts and other news-related shows for multiplatform distribution.
• Craft newscasts by stacking rundowns, writing and editing copy, planning in-studio moves, and ordering graphics.
• Coordinate live shots with directors, production staff, and reporters.
• Lead control-room operations during live broadcasts, remote segments, continuous coverage, and breaking news.
• Develop original story ideas, research show topics, and book guests.
• Use social media tools to enhance and promote programs and talent.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of experience producing news in a medium-to-large television market.
• Fluent written and verbal English and Spanish, with strong grammar and vocabulary.
• Experience engaging digital audiences, storytelling, and using social media and digital tools.
• Knowledge of television production, news-gathering equipment, and computer systems.
• Knowledge of current events, especially local and regional movers and shakers.
• Strong motivation and organizational skills, with the ability to work efficiently with limited supervision.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage breaking-news situations, meet strict deadlines, and respond quickly to changes.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including holidays, weekends, and evenings.

Nice to have

• Experience producing talk shows, interviews or panel shows, and news magazines.
