Cyber Security Analyst (Cybersecurity)

Location: Based in the offices in Crewe, Cheshire, United Kingdom.

What you will do

• Implement and optimise technologies and security controls across internal and customer-facing platforms.
• Identify cyber security risks and control deficiencies, recommend improvements, and lead initiatives that strengthen security capability, resilience and compliance.
• Support secure cloud infrastructure and services, application security, secure software development practices and SDLC integration.
• Monitor security events and alerts, investigate threats, and perform incident response activities including triage, containment and recovery.
• Manage vulnerabilities through identification, risk assessment, remediation tracking and reporting; conduct threat intelligence research and recommend mitigations.
• Maintain security policies, technical documentation, monitoring and response capabilities, and support audits, risk assessments, vendors and recognised security frameworks.

Requirements

• Degree-level education with a minimum 2:2 Lower Second Class Honours.
• Strong technical knowledge of cyber security, including its practical application across technology environments, operating systems, infrastructure and networking.
• Experience with vulnerability management, penetration testing and security assessments, including prioritising and driving remediation.
• Experience with EDR, NDR and SIEM technologies, including security monitoring, alert investigation and response.
• Understanding of cyber incident response, application security, secure development practices, cloud security and secure architecture principles.
• Knowledge of Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK and NIST Cybersecurity Frameworks.
• Understanding of Windows and Linux environments, servers, virtualisation, databases, web servers, TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, WAFs, IAM and common infrastructure security controls.
• Understanding of AWS cloud security, including IAM, logging, monitoring and configuration; DLP, data security and software supply-chain risk.
• Understanding of Red Teaming, Continuous Adversarial Testing, Vulnerability Disclosure Programmes, Cyber Threat Intelligence, phishing, social engineering and insider risk management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation and communication skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders, manage multiple priorities, and keep current with emerging threats and technologies.
