Project Director (BESS)

Location: Hybrid, 2–3 days in office; Alpharetta, Georgia, or Houston, Texas / remote from Texas. Travel approximately 30%.

What you will do

• Lead the strategic planning, management, and execution of multiple complex Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and EPC projects.
• Direct Project Managers, allocate resources, establish accountability, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, construction, and business operations.
• Monitor project financial performance, P&L, risks, schedules, resources, milestones, changes, and deliverables.
• Build relationships with customers, suppliers, Sales, and internal stakeholders while resolving project challenges and escalations.
• Lead business improvement initiatives, document lessons learned, and strengthen project execution and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 12 years of relevant industry experience, including at least 12 years of project management experience with P&L responsibility.
• At least 3 years of experience managing complex EPC projects.
• Experience leading and managing Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of project planning, execution, financial management, and risk mitigation.
• Leadership, collaboration, stakeholder management, influencing, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong business acumen and ability to drive project financial and operational performance.
• Experience managing customer relationships and coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work effectively within a global, matrixed organization.

Nice to have

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Experience managing BESS projects and multiple concurrent EPC projects.
• Knowledge of project controls, resource planning, and performance reporting.
• Experience supporting business development and new project opportunities.
• Experience driving operational improvements and implementing project management best practices.
