Senior CMS Engineer (AI)

Location: United States; fully remote

Salary: $95,000–$140,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do

• Build new applications, websites, and features using CMS platforms including Craft CMS, WordPress, Sanity, Contentful, and others.
• Plan and implement features with AI agents through a spec-driven process, review generated code, and help establish AI development standards.
• Act as Technical Lead across 3–4 projects, partnering with project managers on scope, estimates, budgets, technical decisions, and delivery risks.
• Guide engineers, make architectural decisions, maintain code quality, and contribute to high-level architecture and effort planning.
• Develop integrations, plugins, REST and GraphQL APIs, and connections to external systems such as e-commerce, search, CRM, marketing automation, DAM, and ERP platforms.
• Improve application foundations through database modeling, query optimization, logging, monitoring, documentation, client communication, and technical demos.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably in a technical role and with agency experience.
• Deep experience implementing and customizing one or more CMS platforms.
• Full-stack experience across frontend and backend tools, technologies, and surrounding ecosystems, including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Node.js, and PHP.
• Experience building and consuming backend REST and GraphQL APIs and integrating third-party APIs.
• Hands-on production experience using AI agents for planning and development, including reviewing generated output before release.
• Experience leading a development team or serving as a technical lead, including partnership with a project manager on scope, estimates, and budget.
• Ability to discuss requirements, technical trade-offs, and project status directly with clients.
• Experience building application user experiences based on user behavior and intent.
• Knowledge of Git and GitHub.
