Automotive Application Engineer (Power Semiconductors)

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; regular international travel and an onsite interview with site tour are required.

What you will do

• Support automotive OEMs and Tier suppliers with application requirements, technical challenges, product selection, evaluation, proof-of-concept, design-in, debugging, and implementation.
• Perform hands-on testing and benchmarking of power semiconductor products in representative automotive applications.
• Analyse test results and translate findings into technical recommendations with experienced engineers.
• Develop demo boards, simulations, application notes, design-in tools, demonstrations, and other technical collateral.
• Participate in customer visits, technical discussions, workshops, demonstrations, training, and international travel.
• Collaborate with Applications, R&D, Product Management, Sales, and Field Application Engineering teams on product introductions and customer adoption.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, Physics, or a relevant discipline.
• Good foundation in power electronics and a strong interest in power semiconductors and automotive applications.
• Hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving.
• Strong communication skills and ability to discuss technical ideas in a customer-support context.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally for customer visits, technical workshops, and industry events.

Nice to have

• Experience with power semiconductor devices such as MOSFETs.
• Laboratory testing and measurement experience.
• Circuit simulation using LTspice, PSpice, or SIMPLIS.
• PCB design or prototyping experience.
• Previous customer-facing engineering or technical support experience.
