Vice President of Research & Development (Healthcare AI)

What you will do

• Set and deliver the R&D strategy and product roadmap across the healthcare software portfolio.
• Lead product management, software engineering, platform engineering, and quality assurance teams.
• Own the R&D budget and prioritise investments based on customer and commercial returns.
• Deliver predictable, high-quality releases while reducing technical debt.
• Maintain stable and secure live services and ensure compliance with ISO and medical device regulations.
• Drive AI-enabled engineering and coach product and technology leaders.

Requirements

• 8+ years leading R&D, engineering, or product teams, including 5+ years at senior level.
• Experience leading both product and engineering functions in a software business.
• Experience owning an R&D budget and making investment decisions based on financial return.
• Strong track record of predictable delivery and quality assurance.
• Experience with regulated software, ideally in healthcare, including ISO 13485, ISO 27001, MDR, or DCB0129.
• Hands-on enthusiasm for AI and modern engineering practices.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and coaching skills.

Nice to have

• NHS or public-sector software experience.
• Knowledge of NHS integration standards.
• Experience with SaaS platforms.
