Senior Director of Engineering, Technical Platform (AI)

Location: Hybrid role with a defined work location, including work from home and two office days set by the employee and team; locations listed are New York, NY, US and the London office.

What you will do

• Lead the global Developer Platform and AI infrastructure capabilities supporting approximately 300 software and data engineers across four engineering pillars.
• Build and evolve self-service developer platforms and opinionated paved paths that reduce cognitive load, remove engineering friction, and improve developer velocity.
• Define platform vision, roadmaps, metrics, and investments with Product Management partners.
• Guide resilient infrastructure for enterprise data processing, storage, and mission-critical SaaS integrations with strict SLA/SLO requirements.
• Establish AI tooling, adoption, cost controls, risk guardrails, and compliance governance across technical and non-technical functions.
• Build and manage engineering leadership across platform and IT teams, developing technical leaders and aligning talent with mission-critical outcomes.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership, cloud infrastructure, and platform strategy.
• Product-minded approach to internal software platforms, with focus on adoption, developer satisfaction, and measurable impact.
• Proven experience leading platform engineering organizations supporting hundreds of software and data engineers across distributed teams.
• Strong technical depth in large-scale data processing pipelines, storage architectures, cloud platform services, and high-availability enterprise environments.
• Hands-on or strategic experience operationalizing AI/ML developer workflows, LLM infrastructure, or agentic developer tools.
• Ability to build trust and align engineering, product, security, finance, and business functions.
• Track record of driving cost governance and risk guardrails without unnecessary bureaucratic friction.
• Strong people-management experience, including developing engineering leaders, unblocking teams, eliminating single points of failure, and building high-trust environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with healthcare data compliance, including HIPAA, HITRUST, GDPR, DPA, or NHS DSPT.
• Experience working in regulated technical environments.
• Experience leading organizational shifts toward platform-as-a-product or developer enablement models in multi-pillar engineering organizations.
