IT Infrastructure Team Lead (Defence)

Location: Based at the St Neots office in the United Kingdom, with regular travel to UK customer sites, occasional overseas travel, and periods away from home depending on project requirements.

Salary: £55,000–£65,000 DOE

What you will do

• Lead, line manage, coach, and develop a small team of IT Infrastructure Engineers.
• Own technical delivery across customer projects and services, prioritising work against requirements, timescales, resources, risk, and security.
• Act as a senior technical escalation point, providing third-line support and resolving complex infrastructure, hardware, software, and networking issues.
• Design, integrate, implement, monitor, and maintain secure IT systems and critical networks.
• Contribute to system design and solution architecture while maintaining technical, support, and procedural documentation.
• Work with customers and stakeholders to understand requirements and support new capability.

Requirements

• Current UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
• Experience delivering IT infrastructure within the UK defence sector and MoD environments.
• Strong experience with Windows Server, Windows Client, Active Directory, and core domain services.
• Good networking knowledge, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
• Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware and/or Hyper-V.
• Strong infrastructure troubleshooting and third-line support capability.
• Experience with system design, integration, implementation, and technical direction or mentoring of engineers.
• Strong customer and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to prioritise technical work and make sound decisions regarding risk, security, and delivery.
• Willingness and eligibility to undertake Developed Vetting (DV) in the longer term.

Nice to have

• Formal line management experience.
• Direct experience working with MoD customers and stakeholders.
• Experience supporting air-gapped, restricted, or highly secure networks.
• Current or previous DV clearance.
• Knowledge of Secure by Design principles.
• Project or technical delivery management experience.
