Senior Automation Engineer (Robotics)

Location: On-site in Bartlett, IL, USA; travel up to 20%.

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning, delivering on time and on budget.
• Design and develop robotic automation systems for industrial applications.
• Program and integrate FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, and other robots with PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems.
• Support quoting through concept development, cost and time estimates, and specification reviews.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations.
• Prepare technical, handoff, user, and training documentation while mentoring engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in robotic automation focused on industrial applications.
• Hands-on experience with robot programming and integration.
• Experience across the automation project lifecycle from concept to deployment.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• High proficiency in robot programming, including FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, or KUKA.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens, HMIs, and industrial communication protocols.
• Advanced knowledge of machine vision systems and safety integration; ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of industrial standards and safety regulations, including the ANSI B11 series and A3 R15.06.
• Project management, leadership, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
