Senior Backend Software Engineer – QOPA (Quantum Computing)

Location: Germany, Stuttgart; 3 days from the office and 2 hybrid days

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for quantum-computing control and orchestration systems.
• Develop components for system configuration, health management, and cluster operations in distributed networked environments.
• Integrate backend services with hardware-facing and embedded systems.
• Collaborate with multiple teams on installing and setting up software components on products.
• Own features end-to-end from requirements and design through implementation and testing.
• Improve system reliability, observability, and operability while collaborating across sites and disciplines.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one of Go, Python, or Kotlin, with willingness to learn the others.
• Experience working in Linux and managing configuration with Ansible.
• Experience with inter-process communication over TCP/UDP, gRPC, or REST on Linux, including debugging connectivity and latency issues.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements engineering and design to development and testing.
• Strong engineering capabilities, independent execution, and the ability to work under uncertainty in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to collaborate in a cross-geography, multi-site environment.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills.
• Experience with AI coding agents.
