Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) – Digital Banking

Location: Remote, Canada-only

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated UI, API, integration, functional, regression, end-to-end, and exploratory tests for web and mobile banking applications.
• Build reusable test automation frameworks and integrate automated testing and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
• Validate member-facing and commercial banking journeys, including authentication, account servicing, transfers, bill payments, Interac e-Transfer, mobile cheque deposits, delegated access, approvals, and business payments.
• Test integrations among digital banking platforms, core banking systems, payment services, lending applications, and CRM systems; support migration, reconciliation, SIT, UAT, release readiness, and production validation.
• Investigate defects, analyze logs and root causes, improve coverage and automation reliability, and provide quality metrics and release-readiness assessments.
• Work with developers, business analysts, architects, product owners, client teams, and Agile delivery teams while supporting performance, security, accessibility, and AI-assisted development quality practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software testing or quality engineering experience, including 3+ years of hands-on test automation development.
• Experience testing financial services, banking, credit union, or other transaction-intensive applications.
• Strong proficiency with at least one modern test automation framework: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or Appium.
• Programming or scripting experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, C#, or Python.
• Strong API testing skills using Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent; experience testing REST APIs, authentication, authorization, and system integrations.
• Experience with SQL, data validation, and troubleshooting integration issues.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery, defect management, and risk-based testing.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate directly with client stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Canadian credit unions, digital banking transformation, banking platform migration, cutover, or production hypercare.
• Experience with VeriPark, Backbase, Central 1 Forge/MemberDirect, Intellect Design, Temenos, Lumin, eBankIT, Fiserv DNA, or CGI RFS360.
• Knowledge of Canadian payment capabilities, mortgage lending, loan origination, commercial banking, or CRM workflows.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Azure, and .NET-based enterprise environments.
• Mobile testing across iOS and Android; performance testing with JMeter, k6, or similar tools; and accessibility testing aligned with WCAG.
• Experience testing AI-generated code or implementing automated quality controls in AI-assisted development environments.
