Senior Research Chemist (Oral Care)

Location: Hybrid role based in Princeton, New Jersey, USA; in-person attendance is required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with remote work options on Mondays and Fridays.

Base salary: $92,500–$131,700 annually, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Independently lead research projects involving new formulations and improvements to existing personal care products.
• Analyze consumer feedback and needs, identify product gaps, prepare reports, and recommend data-based solutions.
• Develop oral and/or skin care formulas, design and execute laboratory experiments, analyze results, and assess technical feasibility.
• Advance products from concept through proof of principle, transfer prototypes from laboratory to pilot scale, and support design-for-manufacturing assessments.
• Act as an R&D Technical Project Lead and coordinate development with marketing, processing, packaging, analytical, safety, clinical, and regulatory partners.
• Maintain product specifications, Bundle Books, Design History Files, and other documentation for FDA-regulated OTC products and product launches.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of laboratory experience, including oral care formulation experience.
• Experience with FDA-regulated OTC products is required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing workloads.
• Strong organizational, work-planning, problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree with 3+ years of laboratory experience, or Ph.D. with 2+ years of laboratory experience.
• Skin care formulation experience, including skin care and acne products.
