Embedded Linux Software Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Build, configure, and maintain Yocto-based Linux distributions for custom avionics hardware.
• Perform avionics computer board bring-up and debug hardware/software integration across CPU, memory, and peripheral subsystems.
• Develop, port, maintain, and debug Linux device drivers for sensors, communication buses, and memory devices.
• Implement secure boot, code signing, cryptographic asset management, AppArmor, and SELinux mandatory access controls.
• Design and maintain OTA update infrastructure with rollback and A/B partitioning, including system configuration, startup scripts, and fault-tolerant resource allocation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience building and maintaining Yocto-based embedded Linux distributions for custom boards.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, configure, and debug Linux kernel drivers.
• Demonstrated C/C++ development experience in constrained, low-level environments.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR.

Nice to have

• Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and similar communication buses.
• Understanding of embedded software principles, real-time constraints, and resource-limited systems.
• Experience designing and deploying OTA updates using dual-partition or rollback-safe systems.
• Familiarity with SELinux, AppArmor, secure boot, TPM, and cryptographic key management.
• Experience with embedded CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab, Jenkins, or CircleCI.
• Familiarity with containerization and reproducible embedded-platform builds.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, hardware debuggers, and signal analyzers.
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical documentation, design reviews, and cross-discipline collaboration.
