Senior Data Engineer - Migration & Quality - 1 Year Position (SQL Server)

Location: Hybrid role at 150 Social Hall Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; in-office work is required on Mondays and Tuesdays.

What you will do

• Migrate reporting logic, data-load processes, and business rules from an Oracle health-insurance claims platform to a SQL Server enterprise data warehouse.
• Analyze legacy fields, configurations, workflows, reports, extracts, and downstream processes to identify equivalent modern data and business rules.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, profiling, migration testing, and database-level QA across complex relational datasets.
• Investigate data discrepancies, trace logic across multiple systems, and reverse-engineer existing reports, processes, data models, and business rules.
• Collaborate with BI/ETL developers, senior engineers, architects, business subject matter experts, and AI-assisted tools.

Requirements

• Strong SQL and relational database skills, particularly with SQL Server.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience independently working through large, complex datasets.
• Experience with data validation, reconciliation, data profiling, migration testing, or database-level QA.
• Ability to compare and analyze large datasets across complex database structures and resolve discrepancies across multiple systems.
• Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar database schemas, data models, and business processes.
• Ability to reverse-engineer reports, processes, data models, and business rules and work effectively from incomplete documentation.
• Curiosity, an investigative mindset, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, business stakeholders, and AI-assisted tools.

Nice to have

• Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL experience.
• Experience validating ETL, ELT, or data warehouse processes.
• Experience with data migrations, large-scale system conversions, or migrating reporting logic from legacy systems to modern data platforms.
• Healthcare or health-plan data experience.
• Experience using AI-assisted analysis and development tools for data analysis, validation, and documentation.
