Senior Data Engineer (SQL)

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; hybrid schedule with required in-office work on Mondays and Tuesdays at 150 Social Hall Avenue.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain data solutions using SQL and related technologies.
• Create and modify database objects, queries, views, stored procedures, and other data structures.
• Develop data transformations and processes for operational, analytical, and reporting needs, and assist with data warehouse enhancements.
• Investigate complex and ambiguous data problems across unfamiliar databases, schemas, and systems.
• Trace, validate, and troubleshoot data across source systems, transformation processes, databases, and reporting environments.
• Prepare datasets and support Power BI, Tableau, and similar analytical solutions.

Requirements

• Advanced SQL skills and extensive experience with relational databases.
• Strong understanding of database design, relational structures, keys, joins, data types, constraints, and data integrity.
• Experience creating, transforming, analyzing, validating, and troubleshooting data.
• Ability to understand complicated and unfamiliar data models.
• Ability to independently investigate and solve data problems with limited direction.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business or technical problems into workable data solutions.
• Ability to validate personal work and determine whether the resulting data is correct.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, Oracle, Alteryx, data warehouse development, ETL/data integration, data modeling, Power BI, Tableau, or data validation and reconciliation.
