Associate Director, Pharmaceutical Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid; primary location is West Point, Pennsylvania, USA. The posting is for residents of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Base salary: $129,000–$203,100 annually for the primary location; annual bonus and long-term incentive may apply.

What you will do

• Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines, architectures, and analytics-ready foundations for pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply operations.
• Transform SAP, MES, LIMS, and other operational data covering drug substance, drug product, packaging, quality, and distribution.
• Translate requirements from supply chain, quality, and manufacturing stakeholders into technical specifications and roadmaps.
• Design and implement agentic AI workflows and machine learning models for automation, decision-making, and proactive insights.
• Develop custom WebApps and proof-of-concept solutions for data entry, business operations, and interaction with data models.
• Collaborate on secure system architecture, code management, documentation, training, and technical enablement.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in Python and advanced SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, custom data products, and rapid-prototype front ends such as Streamlit or React.
• Strong familiarity with SAP or similar ERP and manufacturing systems as sources of complex supply chain and manufacturing data.
• Experience gathering complex requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translating them into technical roadmaps.
• Familiarity with or strong interest in agentic modeling, large language models, and AI-agent workflow integration.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with Jira Cloud and Confluence.
• Comfort with VS Code, AI-assisted coding tools, GitHub, code reviews, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, influence, and independent decision-making skills.
• Master’s degree in a relevant quantitative field plus at least 5 years of relevant industrial, pharmaceutical, or data engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree plus at least 7 years of such experience.

Nice to have

• Pharmaceutical drug substance or drug product supply chain knowledge, including process orders, batch genealogy, MRP/MPS planning, tech transfer, quality management, or global distribution.
• Experience with SAP MM, PP, QM, or SD modules, MES, or LIMS.
