Senior Cybersecurity Engineer I (Secret Clearance)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite role based out of Long Beach, CA.

Base pay range: $132,000–$198,000 USD annually in California.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and manage security solutions for SDA program networks, servers, applications, and IT infrastructure.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests, then mitigate identified risks.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory compliance practices.
• Monitor security systems, analyze incidents, and coordinate remediation.
• Integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle in collaboration with IT and development teams.
• Track emerging threats and technologies, recommend security improvements, and mentor junior security engineers and IT staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Active Secret security clearance is required upon hire.
• 5+ years of experience in system security engineering or a related role.
• 8140 Intermediate or Advanced certification, such as Security+, Cloud+, CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards, including NIST 800, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
• Proficiency with security tools and technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection.
• Experience with cloud security across AWS, Azure, or GCP and with securing hybrid environments.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and application security.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices and tools, incident response, and digital forensics.
• Familiarity with scripting and automation using Python or PowerShell.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, including effective cross-functional collaboration.
