Network Engineer (Skillbridge)

What you will do

• Maintain hardware, software, virtualized environments, storage, networks, and related infrastructure.
• Support Risk Management Framework and Authority to Operate activities, including quarterly STIG execution and vulnerability remediation.
• Harden and validate Cisco IOS/NX-OS, Palo Alto PAN-OS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server, Windows 11, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, VMware, NetApp, and infrastructure appliances.
• Analyze scan findings and operational impact, coordinate applicability and ownership with security teams and system owners, and implement approved changes.
• Create and maintain configurations, diagrams, checklists, change records, POA&M entries, corrective action reports, and audit evidence.
• Participate in working groups, scan review meetings, audit discussions, and an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 5+ years administering virtualized environments, multi-tenant storage systems, integrated network routing and switching, and enterprise firewall policies.
• Working familiarity with VMs, storage, routing and switching, and firewall policies; CCNA-level understanding is sufficient.
• Hands-on command-line and management-console experience with networking equipment, Linux, and Windows, including retrieving configurations, applying directed changes, and validating results.
• Working knowledge of DoD security posture, DISA STIGs, POA&Ms, IAVMs, and the RMF compliance framework.
• Demonstrated attention to detail when producing technical documentation, diagrams, change records, checklists, and audit evidence.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, including willingness to take direction from senior engineers.
• Security+ certification or equivalent meeting the DoD Directive 8570 baseline; certification must be obtainable within 45 days.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain it when administratively feasible; US citizenship is listed as a condition.
• Ability to travel up to 15% and participate in an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• RHCSA, VMware Certified Professional, Windows Server AZ-800/AZ-801, CCNA, CCNP, or CISSP certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with Nessus and Security Center.
• Identity and access management experience.
• Automation experience with Python, Ansible, PowerShell, or similar tools.
• Experience configuring, administering, upgrading, and securing varied equipment and applications.
