Senior Network Engineer

Location: Remote / Hybrid; Viersen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany

What you will do

• Design, implement, maintain, and secure enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, data center, and cloud network infrastructure.
• Manage routing and switching environments, including SD-WAN, SDA, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, and HSRP/VRRP.
• Configure firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and other security controls, including secure hybrid connectivity.
• Lead network upgrades, migrations, and major infrastructure projects; troubleshoot outages and perform root cause analysis.
• Monitor network health, maintain diagrams, IP schemas, standards, and runbooks, and coordinate with service providers.
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance, ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
• Hands-on enterprise network engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco routing and switching, TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, InfoBlox, DMVPN, SD-WAN, DIA, broadband, and Cisco/Meraki wireless networking with ISE infrastructure.
• Experience with Palo Alto or Cisco ASA/FTD firewalls, site-to-site and remote-access VPNs, network segmentation, and security best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting skills using packet-capture tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump.
• Cloud networking experience with AWS, Azure, or OCI, including VPC/VNet design, VPN, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with SD-WAN platforms such as Viptela.
• Automation experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform, or API-based networking.
• Experience with NAC solutions such as Cisco ISE or ClearPass.
• Knowledge of NIST, CMMC, or ISO 27001 compliance and security frameworks.
• CCNP, CCIE Enterprise/Security, PCNSE, or NSE certification.
