Mechanical Designer (Water/Wastewater)

Location: Hybrid role based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, or Minneapolis, Minnesota; Richmond, Virginia; or Bellevue, Washington, US.

What you will do

• Develop detailed 3D CAD models for water and wastewater treatment systems, including general arrangements, complex equipment, skid and module assemblies, piping layouts, and Balance of Plant designs.
• Produce 2D fabrication and spool drawings, piping isometrics, and bills of materials to support manufacturing, fabrication, and installation.
• Ensure designs and engineering documentation comply with project specifications, engineering standards, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, coordinate designs, resolve technical issues, and support project execution.
• Participate in design reviews, incorporate feedback, and communicate project progress, schedules, design changes, and technical challenges.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and delivery against deadlines.

Requirements

• College diploma, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of equivalent CAD drafting or design experience.
• Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and/or AutoCAD Plant 3D, including SOLIDWORKS Routing and Weldments add-ins.
• Strong knowledge of drafting standards and practices.
• Specialized experience designing mechanical systems for water or wastewater skids or plants.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, solve complex problems, and identify solutions from a broader perspective.
• Ability to act as a technical resource and provide guidance to junior designers.

Nice to have

• Experience in Food & Beverage, Industrial, Municipal, or Microelectronics markets.
• Revit experience.
• CSWP certification.
