CAD Designer (Aras Innovator)

Location: Hybrid in Lexington, Massachusetts, with 3–4 days onsite per week; must live within 100 miles of Lexington, MA. Candidates who are not local to Massachusetts must relocate to start the position. Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance; an interim clearance is sufficient to start.

What you will do

• Develop complex mechanical designs optimized for fabrication, assembly, testing, and performance.
• Design and model mechanical enclosures, optical assemblies, thermal-system packaging solutions, novel materials, and innovative mechanisms.
• Support requirements for mounting, adjustment, actuation, alignment, measurement, precision bearings, gearing, and drive systems.
• Contribute to structural and thermal analysis, environmental testing, testing integrations, and system performance testing.
• Support development and maintenance of the Aras Innovator PLM platform, user adoption, digital engineering methods, and sponsored research programs.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and US citizenship are required.
• At least 10 years of mechanical design and mechanical CAD experience, including complex mechanisms and mechanical assemblies.
• At least 5 years of experience with Aras Innovator PLM.
• At least 5 years of experience with computer-aided design, device design, AutoCAD, CAD/EDA/TCAD, CATIA, computer-aided manufacturing, process and device TCAD, and SolidWorks 3D CAD.
• Experience designing, analyzing, and documenting opto-mechanical subsystems and components.
• Knowledge of testing integrations and familiarity with machining, sheet metal, and other fabrication techniques.
• Familiarity with thermal analysis, structural analysis, optical systems, and EO/IR system design.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance is required; an interim clearance is sufficient at the start.

Nice to have

• Opto-mechanical experience.
• Experience with military standards and mil-spec components.
• Experience coordinating and executing system performance testing.
• Experience with machining, sheet metal, thermal analysis, structural analysis, optical systems, and EO/IR systems.
• Mechanical or mechanical-opto experience.
• At least 8 years of experience is preferred, although the stated minimum is 5 years for the listed experience areas.
