Senior AI Engineer

Apptopia is a high-growth startup providing competitive intelligence from mobile app data to investment firms, financial institutions, technology companies, and hedge funds.

What you will do

• Incorporate LLM-powered systems into new data products and advance existing products and the long-term AI strategy.
• Design and implement agentic workflows combining LLM reasoning, structured data, and external tools.
• Experiment with multi-step reasoning, RAG, tool orchestration, and emerging AI approaches to improve analyst workflows.
• Develop machine learning algorithms for app usage forecasting, consumer behavior prediction, stock price movement estimation, and user segmentation.
• Extend core modeling into AI-native systems, augment datasets with LLM-derived features and insights, and improve model accuracy through ensemble methodologies.
• Help build internal AI platforms, define evaluation frameworks and best practices, and take AI initiatives from experimentation to production with product and engineering.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, data engineering, or applied AI.
• Experience building production machine learning systems end-to-end.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, including OpenAI, Anthropic, or Bedrock.
• Experience with RAG, tool use, or agentic systems.
• Strong Python skills and experience with APIs and cloud platforms; AWS is preferred.
• Comfort working with ambiguity and fast experimentation cycles.

Nice to have

• Databricks tooling experience.
• Familiarity with clickstream, app usage, or observational panel data.
