Senior Network Engineer

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States; support for the US Space Force Space Systems Command.

Salary: $165,000–$195,000 annually, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.

What you will do

• Design, engineer, install, configure, and remove switches, routers, firewalls, and telephones in operational and test-lab environments.
• Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, administer, and support network infrastructure and virtual server environments.
• Use enterprise monitoring and management tools, including SolarWinds, Wireshark, Apstra, and Paragon Active Assurance, to analyze network activity and issues.
• Provide technical guidance on network solution design and implementation while maintaining enterprise network architecture.
• Establish network standards and priorities, recommend design enhancements, and optimize network performance.
• Advise managers and technical resources on current and future uses of network technologies while collaborating with network engineers, systems administrators, software developers, and testers.

Requirements

• US citizenship is required.
• Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
• Bachelor’s degree in a science- and technology-related discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or Computer Engineering, plus 9+ years of relevant experience; alternatively, a relevant master’s degree plus 7+ years of relevant experience, or 9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• DoD 8570 baseline certification at IAT Level II is required.
• Current CCNA or JNCIA certification with 3+ years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and Visio, with a record of contributing to successful programs and projects and making key recommendations.
• Experience with Agile or DevOps project management styles.
• Working knowledge of dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP, plus WAN experience.
• Experience interfacing with DISA and other telecommunications providers; strong understanding of SDN, especially VMware distributed switching, and Layer-2 and Layer-3 networks from both network and systems administration perspectives.

Nice to have

• Understanding of discipline processes, information and data management, and configuration control.
• Communication and collaboration experience with contract representatives and government sponsors.
• Ability to summarize results and draw conclusions from data interpretation.
• CCNP or JNCIP-ENT certification.
• Experience with VxLAN, SD-WAN including 128T/SSR, Palo Alto firewalls, IP fabrics, Apstra, or HAIPE Type 1 encryption devices.
