Manager of the Admin Experience Engineering Team (Cybersecurity)

Location: United States (Remote); up to 10% travel may be required.

Base salary: $225,000–$265,000 annually, plus equity eligibility for full-time roles.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, recruit, onboard, and develop the Admin Experience engineering team.
• Set priorities, ownership, goals, feedback practices, and technical direction for administration capabilities.
• Partner with Product and engineering stakeholders on roadmaps for user access, account hierarchies, settings, roles, access controls, and audit logs.
• Guide backend services, APIs, data models, authorization boundaries, design reviews, and technical trade-offs.
• Balance feature delivery with production support, on-call responsibilities, reliability, maintainability, testing, observability, safe rollouts, runbooks, and documentation.
• Coordinate with partner teams to keep administration workflows secure and consistent across NodeZero.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience leading software engineers delivering production backend services or SaaS platform capabilities.
• Strong background in backend architecture, APIs, data modeling, and production operations, with meaningful participation in design and code reviews.
• Experience with identity, access control, multi-tenant systems, account hierarchies, or comparable administration capabilities.
• Experience hiring, onboarding, coaching, and developing engineers.
• Ability to set priorities, manage concurrent initiatives, and guide teams through ambiguity and changing needs.
• Experience guiding teams using a modern backend language such as Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript; relevant depth is sufficient and every example technology is not required.
• Working knowledge of SQL, relational data stores, REST or GraphQL API design, and cloud-hosted services.
• Familiarity with Docker, automated testing, observability, production operations, and quality-focused technical documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with RBAC, SSO, audit logs, delegated administration, or customer-facing admin consoles.
• Experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, feature flags, Datadog, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience in cybersecurity or another technically complex, customer-facing SaaS environment.
