What you will do

• Translate, edit, proofread, and format medical records, patient education materials, marketing content, and other hospital documents using CAT tools such as SDL Trados.
• Maintain translation memories, glossaries, terminology, and style consistency across materials.
• Prioritize, track, document, and coordinate translation projects, providing requestors with status updates and delay notices.
• Provide consecutive and/or simultaneous medical interpretation for limited-English-proficient patients, families, and hospital staff.
• Support quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, accreditation activities, and organizational language-access initiatives.
• Review operational metrics, identify trends, prepare reports and procedures, and collaborate with leaders, academic departments, analytics, and IT teams.

Requirements

• Associate degree from an accredited institution.
• At least 2 years of experience translating, proofreading, and editing medical materials between English and the target language.
• American Translators Association certification or equivalent.
• Advanced proficiency in English and the target language, including medical terminology and vocabulary in both languages.
• Knowledge of the ATA Code of Ethics and Professional Practice, medical translation quality assurance, proofreading, editing, glossaries, and translation memory systems.
• Ability to use CAT tools, including SDL Trados, as well as Microsoft Office and word-processing applications.
• Ability to provide consecutive and/or simultaneous medical interpretation for limited-English-proficient patients, families, and hospital staff.
• Ability to organize multiple projects, analyze information and trends, communicate recommendations, and prepare reports, policies, procedures, and business correspondence.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, teamwork, compassion, ownership, accountability, and service-excellence skills; knowledge of cultural humility and healthcare-system navigation.
