Software Engineer II - Offboard Python Application (Python)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA; Palo Alto, CA; Detroit, MI; or Remote. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Visa sponsorship is available.

Expected base salary in California: $150,320–$225,480 USD annually. Actual pay depends on work location, experience, education, training, and skill level.

What you will do

• Improve simulation and resimulation cloud frameworks and Python applications running at large scale across AWS, GCP, open-source packages, and on-premises environments.
• Benchmark systems, identify scalability and performance bottlenecks, build dashboards, and implement efficiency improvements.
• Improve framework usability through user feedback, documentation, self-service extension capabilities, and collaboration with autonomy, systems, and test teams.
• Contribute to efficient vehicle-log storage and search, including indexing relevant actors and interactions and determining dataset coverage.
• Develop framework capabilities that make performance metrics easy to add and support implementation of metrics for autonomous-vehicle testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field and 4+ years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience; or a PhD.
• Expertise writing efficient, well-documented, and well-tested Python code.
• 2+ years of experience writing scalable applications that execute in a cloud or HPC environment.
• 2+ years of experience writing software that interacts with AWS and/or GCP services.
• Familiarity with NumPy and scientific programming.
• Willingness to learn how onboard and offboard components interact and propose improvements for developers and testers.

Nice to have

• C++ development experience.
• Kubernetes experience.
