Senior Mechanical Engineer (CO2 Compressor – Carbon Capture)

Location: Hybrid, Zürich, Switzerland; willingness to travel 10–20% to suppliers or sites

What you will do

• Execute the CO2 compressor package within carbon-capture systems.
• Define work packages and technical specifications, prepare RFQ documents, conduct supplier meetings, select suppliers, and expedite assigned lots.
• Coordinate concepts and basic engineering, align interfaces across mechanical, civil, steel, construction, electrical and instrumentation, and plant layout disciplines.
• Collaborate with plant design on component installation and pipe routing.
• Review, comment on, approve, and distribute supplier engineering documents while ensuring compliance and timely delivery.
• Support construction and commissioning activities, mainly from the office.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in the power generation and turbomachinery industry.
• Solid understanding of industrial plant processes, mechanical equipment, components, and systems.
• Ability to read and understand P&IDs.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Strong coordination, negotiation, and stakeholder communication skills across procurement, suppliers, and site staff.
• Structured, precise, self-driven, positive, and responsible personality.
• Fluent English.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial compressors, including axial, centrifugal, or reciprocating types.
• German knowledge.
