Associate Manager AGI Research

Location: Remote within the United States

Base compensation: $50.50–$60.00 per hour

What you will do

• Supervise research interns, assign work, set weekly goals and schedules, monitor progress, and provide coaching and performance feedback.
• Coordinate research activities, planning routines, milestones, demos, status reporting, documentation, and workflow across technical and business stakeholders.
• Conduct hands-on AI research, prototyping, coding, debugging, testing, literature and tool reviews, and experiment documentation.
• Apply evaluation methods, benchmarks, accuracy measures, test data, and error analysis; review code, prototypes, and documentation for correctness, performance, security, maintainability, and AI-native SDLC standards.
• Collect requirements, coordinate technical reviews, document decisions, and escalate material scope, resource, technical, compliance, security, privacy, and data-handling issues.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, training, timecard review, performance evaluations, and internship or conversion decisions with HR and university relations.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science, machine learning, AI, data science, engineering, or a related technical field, with either a bachelor’s degree and 2–3 years of experience, a master’s degree and 1–2 years, or a PhD and 0–1 years.
• Relevant experience in software engineering, applied AI, machine learning, data science research, or technical program or project management.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or managing technical contributors such as interns, early-career engineers, or research assistants, including coaching, direct feedback, and difficult conversations.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and the ability to review code and prototypes against technical, security, and documentation standards.
• Experience supporting applied research or experiments by documenting hypotheses, applying evaluation metrics, analyzing results, and recommending next steps.
• Experience translating approved objectives into assignments, short-term goals, schedules, and status reports for a small team or work unit.
• Ability to work within established procedures, clarify routine requirements, and escalate material scope or acceptance-criteria questions.
• Clear written, verbal, and demonstration-based communication of complex technical concepts and results.
• Sound judgment regarding data security and privacy, especially for sensitive healthcare and claims data; proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and project tracking tools such as Jira or Asana.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with LLM application patterns including agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, prompt engineering, and LLM evaluation.
• Experience with knowledge graphs or graph databases.
• Experience in fast-paced product, research, or innovation teams, or in internship or university programs.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or OCI and containerization with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Exposure to healthcare, clinical chart review, medical coding, or claims concepts; this is not required and ramp-up support is provided.
• CSM, PSM I, or SAFe Agilist certification, or experience with OKRs or similar goal-setting frameworks.
