Expert Senior Manager, AI Engineering (Generative AI)

Location: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington, DC, United States.

Annual full-time salary: $293,500 in New York City, California, Washington State, and Washington, DC; $258,000 in Illinois, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Texas. Other locations follow competitive geographic market rates. Additional compensation may include a discretionary performance bonus.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and scale end-to-end generative AI systems, multi-agent workflows, and production-grade AI applications.
• Architect RAG, fine-tuning, embedding, hybrid retrieval, reasoning, tool-use, function-calling, and orchestration pipelines.
• Lead research, experimentation, evaluation design, production deployment, optimization, and GenAIOps for automated testing, regression evaluation, latency monitoring, and continual improvement.
• Develop APIs, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, observability, cloud-native deployments, guardrails, fallbacks, red-teaming, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Partner with product, engineering, data science, ethics, infrastructure, executives, and clients on AI strategy, architecture, roadmaps, and responsible AI implementation.
• Mentor and upskill technical teams in RAG, agentic systems, prompt engineering, evaluation, and AI safety.

Requirements

• 8–12+ years in software engineering, ML engineering, or applied AI roles, including significant hands-on building responsibilities.
• Experience leading complex, multi-stack generative AI programs from conception through production.
• Strong executive communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders.
• Track record of leading engineering teams, mentoring technical talent, and collaborating across functions.
• Advanced prompt engineering, context engineering, and conversation design.
• Strong expertise in evaluation design, experimentation frameworks, and data-labeling strategies for LLM applications.
• Deep experience with advanced RAG, agentic architectures, ReAct, RLAIF, HITL feedback loops, orchestration frameworks, vector and graph databases, and model/API ecosystems.
• Strong background in system design, architecture, production deployment, cost optimization, and computational tradeoffs for LLM workloads.
• Ability to operate in high-ambiguity environments and lead, mentor, and inspire technical teams.
